Quick answer

Grover Work creates invoices from approved estimates, adds a card or bank payment link to each one, reminds customers about overdue invoices automatically and matches every payment to its invoice, so contractors spend less time chasing money.

Why contractors get paid late

Most late payments are not refusals. The invoice went out days later, it was a PDF the customer had to find, and paying meant mailing a check or reading out a card number. Every extra step is a reason to put it off.

The fix is simple: invoice the same day, make paying one tap, and follow up without having to remember to.

How it works

  1. Finish the work or reach the milestone

Mark the job step done or open the invoice for the next payment.

  2. Send the invoice

It goes to the customer with a payment link attached.

  3. The customer pays

Card or bank transfer from their phone. The payment is matched to the invoice.

  4. Overdue? Reminders go out

Grover Work follows up on overdue invoices automatically.

How invoicing works in Grover Work

Invoices from the estimate

When a customer approves an estimate, each payment on its schedule becomes an invoice, so the amounts match what was agreed.

A payment link on every invoice

Customers pay by card or bank transfer from their phone. The payment is matched to the invoice for you instead of being typed in later.

Overdue reminders that send themselves

Grover Work sends reminders for overdue invoices on its own, so a late payment does not depend on you remembering to call.

Recurring invoices for service plans

For repeat work such as lawn care or maintenance visits, a recurring series bills each visit, with the customer's consent recorded when they opt in to autopay.

One page for the customer

The customer sees their estimate, invoices and payment history on a private page, with no account or password to forget.

What to put on a contractor invoice

  • Your business name and contact details, the customer's name and the job address.
  • An invoice number and the date.
  • What the invoice is for, such as a deposit, a progress payment or the final balance, and the amount.
  • The due date and how to pay.
  • Any tax that applies to the work, shown separately.

Questions, answered

How do I invoice a customer as a contractor?

Send an invoice that names the work, the amount and the due date, and give the customer an easy way to pay. In Grover Work an approved estimate creates the invoices for you, and each carries a payment link for card or bank payment.

Can I take a deposit before starting the job?

Yes. When you build the payment schedule on an estimate you can set a deposit and a final payment, or your own milestones. Each becomes its own invoice once the customer approves.

Does Grover Work chase overdue invoices?

Yes. It sends reminders for overdue invoices automatically, so you do not have to track which ones are late.

Can I bill a customer every month for repeat work?

Yes. A recurring series covers weekly, every-two-weeks, monthly or custom intervals. You can skip a date without losing the pattern, and autopay needs the customer's recorded consent.

What does it cost to take payments?

Payments are processed by Stripe at Stripe's published rates, plus a small plan fee that depends on your Grover Work plan. The payment processing fees page shows the numbers with the assumptions stated.
